Our Story
Austin’s original game café. Emerald Tavern Games & Cafe was founded in 2013 with a simple yet powerful idea: to create a space where people can come together to share our passion for gaming, great food, coffee, drinks and to create unforgettable moments.

In 2019 Emerald Tavern expanded into a new much larger space with a full cocktail bar, 32 draft beers, and a scratch kitchen now featuring British pub inspired fare.

At Emerald Tavern, our mission is to be the epicenter of gaming culture here in Austin, a place where friendships are forged over table top gaming, alliances are formed in the imaginative or competitive realm, and creativity is unleashed through role-playing. We are committed to providing a welcoming environment for all. Whether you’re a seasoned strategist or a casual gamer, there’s a place for you at our tables.

What We Offer

1. Games Galore: Our extensive library of board games, card games, and tabletop RPGs is a treasure trove waiting to be explored. From classic titles to the latest releases, you’ll find something to suit your taste. And that’s just our library! We also have a full retail space to take home your favorites or just something new to try! Our staff is ready to help you find your next favorite game.
2. Nourishing Fare: Satisfy your appetite with our menu of delectable tavern food steeped in tradition, snacks, café beverages and, of course, specialty house cocktails. In addition to games, we are THE place to recharge and excite your taste buds.
